All things come to an end, and the same is no different for the SalCast. The SalCast crew have collectively decided that it’s time to move on, and this will be the final episode of the SalCast. *But*, the crew has something special for all of us: an interview with Mod Hohbein and Mod Mark! In Entrility’s words:

Well, we’re at the end. After many months of fooling around with nothing to show for it, it’s game over. And just when I was coming back, too.

Anyways, a few things to say. First, I’d like to thank all the people who’ve helped the Salcast v2 since Reaver and Kayla brought it back from the dead a ways back. We’ve had a lot of great fun, etc etc etc <cliche stuff here>. It’s true, though, it was a good time.

Second, regarding this episode. Back in the end of December of 2009, we landed an interview with Jagex – Mod Hohbein of the community management team, and Mod Mark, the lead game designer who’s been at Jagex since the very beginning. After getting corrupted a bit (which wiped out a good chunk of it), getting stalled due to my crappy internet, etc, I found it in the maze of files known as my external hard drive. But here it is, finally. Even though it’s so old, it’s still quite relevant now, and aside from that, Mod Mark is very interesting to listen to.

Third, here’s the episode; enjoy!

Download audio file (mod_mark_interview.mp3)

A massively-big thanks goes to all of these people, in order of appearance:

Tabt
Goggie_100
Entrility
Easl
Mod Hohbein
Mod Mark

Salcast 16, the best bit! Its just Jagex discussion! You may say (or look) but never fear, with this new format you do not need to stream or download bigger files, you can instead just listen to your favorite Runescape banter from Easl, Tabt, Bob and Goggie as they embark into the month of manuary.

No more skipping through forum discussion!

No more sleeping through long music (ok maybe once)!

No more getting a drink in the misc section!

Yes the new face of podcasting is here! Quicker releases, shorter podcasts (face it, 45 minutes of project W was a long time) and 4 of the greatest voices on the internet, and kemosabe! Yes the benefits are HUGE, just click the link and away you go, into a world where Steel 2handers do exist.

Enjoy

Here we bring you yet another episode of SalCast. This new episode, by the way, is of much higher quality than the last. Our team’s worked pretty hard over the last three weeks, and we’ve managed to bang out this episode in four weeks – topping most of our previous efforts by a long shot. This episode includes a special guest that you all know well – a big thanks to Adam? for helping us out and doing an interview.

To thank for this episode we have Entrility, Easl, Dwarrior, Zellychan, Raide, Tabt, Mad Max, DaNoobPro, Jordo, Desireful, Falcon, imsleepy, Kemosabe, Twist of Fate, and Finway. They’ve all put in a lot to make sure this edition of SalCast is more entertaining and enjoyable for our listeners.

Download audio file (salcast_15.mp3)

Permanent Link to This Episode:

(right-click and select “Save As” or “Save Target As” to save this file for later)

On top of that, we’ve also got a completely new set of staff members. Please welcome:

Dwarrior

Tabt

Finisterra

Kemosabe

Twist of Fate

Aliath

Fake

Jordo

Error404

mad max

finway

Veni Vidi Vici

imsleepy

Riddick

Goggie

Raide (returning)

Desireful (returning)

Zellychan (returning)

Magic of Woodcut (returning)

And with our influx of new staff, a new structure by which we do things. Basically, we have five sections – Forum Discussion, Jagex Discussion, Entertainment, Tech, and Literature. Each of the five sections has a head, Entrility, Easl, Doddsy, DaNoobPro, and Falcon respectively. The job of the section head is to make sure the people in their categories get content released by the deadline – and when deadline hits, whatever content is available and ready to be put in a Salcast is. This way, we can assure more frequent casts, probably of shorter length.

Anyways, we hope this’ll work out for us. Thanks for listening!

Slightly different change once again. Using Ventrilo to talk, the members inside the SalCast team have tried to work with new changes and advance. Hopefully with this latest podcast we are ever closer to the changes we are all working towards. But more about that later, for now just sit back, relax and enjoy the latest cast!

Download audio file (salcast_14.mp3)

A very big “thanks” goes to the following members Falcon, Fatalysm, Doddsy and Entrility! Not our usual spur of members ready to contribute however this is actually where you all come in! We need your help, so keep reading on!

http://santafish.org/mp3s/salcast_14.mp3

So moving on swiftly, we would all just like to drift your attention over to some changes that the SalCast will be making and how you can get involved with all of this! The SalCast never stops changing and this time it’s a complete shift which will require groups of 4/5 people to join categories of their choice! The categories will be released at a later date, so be sure to check back into the SalCast forums.

If your simply wondering how it’s going to work, we have adapted a new system where there will be around two hosts and two researchers for each category! Each individual category will have a leader to organize that section and it’s dates and times! Obviously this will mean quite a few people will be needed, so if your interested stick around!

The SalCast team have been working hard to get out some fresh new content out to it’s listeners! The team has been working in a slightly different manner this time and hopefully you will notice the changes whilst listening, you will also pick up on the fact that their is no RuneScape inside of the cast. Do not worry though, there is plenty to listen to in the way of that content coming up in another podcast shortly! As for the next episode of the SalCast, you can expect very different things happening once again. Keep your ears open!

Also with the release of the SalCast, we will announce who has been accepted into the team and we have released our competition results!

It is apparent to us all that these media projects (the previous Salcasts) have lately been taking much longer than usual. We think it best to inform you in a basic way, that we are working very hard to get the latest episode released as soon as is possible. Much different to before, the SalCast is now working in a slightly different manner. When we say different, we literally mean that organization of how we work has been and is now and forever, completely changed.

These behind the scenes entries will hopefully end up coming out every week with the latest Salcast updates. We feel it’s better to communicate with the forumers more and give you more of an insight on what’s going on in the “secret” forums for the Salcast team. At the end of the day (this is as much your podcast as it is ours!) we will most likely be giving you updates on content, new arising problems and things we are generally doing to release the cast. So, if we aren’t quite on schedule, you will know about it!

Something is always going to go slightly wrong and we have noticed a lack of content produced by our teams towards the Runescape side of things. This knowledge brings us back to our organization. With this said, applications are back and available!

The latest episode is running very smoothly, and actually is very close to completion already! But this ties into what we were speaking of earlier. Organization has changed and now we present RuneCast, imagine an ‘a’ and a ‘b’ side to a CD. That is all we shall give you, the rest is up to the release.

From now on, you will notice that the cast is starting to branch out a little more with the next episode. It’s going beyond the normal and adding new, refreshing content. Some of you won’t quite enjoy it until much further down the line. Perhaps this is something that is going to get better with further interest into the cast. Imagine, no major boundaries on content, aside from the regular inappropriate material rules. The upcoming Salcasts will be much more relaxed; just writers and hosts using their knowledge of certain genres!

Last but certainly not least, we have the SalCast Voice Talent competition! It seems to be working out quite well, we are all very impressed by what marvelous talent we have heard from all of you. So remember, entries have to be in by the 1st of May! Good luck to others who are considering the competition!

That’s it for this Behind the Scenes, we’ll see you again soon! Oh, one more quick note, if you have anything you would like to know about or think we should address, don’t be afraid to send a personal message to Fatalysm, you could see new information posted just from your own questions etc!

Ah, we all knew this competition would come back to haunt us all. A long time after Master Neverdead’s attempt to do a singing contest, it is revived but this time we think it might just work. Here is the idea of SalCast Idol! We want a recording of you perhaps singing or giving us things you can do with your voice like impressions or funky sound, by this we mean it can be as fun as you want it be. If your singing try to keep any music down low! We want your voice!

Here are some ground rules:

You have to enter a music file such as (.AIF, MP3…).

Make sure it is definitely your voice, we don’t want to have another artists work!

Keep everything to a level suitable for 13+.

You can only enter one valid piece. You can change your entry as much as you want but the final one you send is the one being voted for.

If you have the ability to edit your voice, like if you want to add an echo that is fine but don’t edit beyond recognition!

Everyone will be allowed to enter, even the SalCast staff (they need their fun too!).

All entries must be put into the submissions forum here, we would like all entries in by the 1st of May 2009. It doesn’t matter how good you are, this contest is for complete fun! It is always the effort that counts, and remember you could be completely off-key with singing or your impression might be terrible but your confidence could win you the competition. So, now your wondering, just why would i want to enter this ghastly competition when all i could meet is humiliation?

Well, obviously no competition is a competition without some sort of a prize. You will get a chance to record a theme tune for the SalCast! And your song will be played in full on the SalCast! As well as this you might be considered to become a host for the SalCast and of course if that is an interest to you then we will be in touch!

I’ve got an example here of something we would like to possibly see:

Download audio file (examplecompetition.mp3)

Now your probably wondering, just how am i supposed to enter your file to the SalCast? Well, you can either personal message it to myself using a file uploader such as Rapidshare or MegaUpload or enter it via the Submissions forum. Good luck with your entries!
